Getting a Library Card · Loan Periods · Computers

GETTING A LIBRARY CARD
·We issue cards for three years and will renew at that time.
·Your Willimantic Public Library card may be used at all Connecticut public libraries.
If you are... To Get a Card Bring...
Child (under 14) A parent or legal guardian who must show two forms of proof of residency (examples: valid Connecticut driver's license or any valid picture ID, and additional ID such as a rent receipt, utility bill or piece of canceled mail.)  There is a $1.00 fee to replace a lost card.
Resident of Willimantic or Windham (14 & over) Two forms of proof of residency (examples: valid Connecticut driver’s license or any valid picture ID, and additional ID such as a rent receipt, utility bill or piece of canceled mail.)  There is a $1.00 fee to replace a lost card.
Residents of other Connecticut towns You may use your up-to-date library card from the town where you live.
ECSU Students Your student ID and something that shows your local address, or your up-to-date public library card from any CT town.

LOAN PERIODS
·We can borrow books from other libraries for Willimantic and Windham residents. Residents of other towns can obtain this service from their hometown library.
·We charge no fines for overdue items. When a book is three weeks overdue, we send a bill for the replacement cost of the item. If you return the book at that point, you owe nothing.

(Interlibrary Loan and reserve books: 2 weeks, 3 books per nonfiction subject, no total limit per card)

(Adult Department - 5 CDs per card)
(Children's Department - 5 total of CDs, Audiocassettes, and Audio Books)
Audiocassettes 4 weeks
(Adult Department - 5 per card)

Audio Books 4 weeks
(Adult Department - 3 per card)

Videos and DVDs Adult Department - 1 week, 3 DVDs and 3 videos per card

Passes are only available to Windham and Willimantic residents.

Internet & Word Processing

7 computers with Internet and word processing.

You are entitled to 1/2 hour on the computer.

If no one is waiting after half an hour, you may stay on for a longer time.

You must bring your library card to log in to the computers.

6 computers with Internet and word processing.

Between the ages of 10-17 you may use the Internet if your parent or guardian signs a permission slip to grant you Internet access.

Under the age of 10 you may use the Internet with a parent or guardian.

You must bring your library card  to log in to the computers.

Printing 10 cents per page. You may print up to five pages at no charge. Additional pages are ten cents each.
Saving work It is not possible to use floppy disks.  You are unable to save to the hard drives of the computers.  You may use a flash drive to save your work. 3 computers have disk drives. Bring your own pre-formatted PC disk (it is not possible to save your work to the hard drives of the computers). You may also use a flash drive to save your work.

Apple/MacIntosh disks will not work in our computers.

Headphones Due to public health rules, we are unable to provide headphones for common use.  You may bring your own headphones or purchase a set at the circulation desk for $2.00, which are then yours to keep.
