Connecticut Cutlery Company

Established in 1866 on Fulling Mill Brook. Manufactured knives and shears. Bought by Union City Thimble Company in 1892. Steel thimbles produced here until 1896.

Goodyear Metallic Rubber Shoe Company (c. 1900)

Located on North Water Street before the present railroad track was built. In the background: the Spire of the Congregational Church, St. Michael's Church, the Town Hall, Salem School & Naugatuck High School.

D. Thurston Sons Ice Company (Early 1900's)

Naugatuck Malleable Iron Company (c. 1895)

Founded in Union City by Bronson B. Tuttle and John H. Whittemore in 1858.

Smiths Button Factory (c. 1866)

Located on the North Side of Prospect Street.  It burned down in 1902.

Homer Twitchell and Son (c. 1890)

North Main Street near Prospect Street. Manufactured umbrella hardware. Later occupied by Naugatuck Manufacturing Company established by William Rhodenback in 1894 in Millville and moved to this location in 1902.  Destroyed by flood of 1955.
