What are the Junior Friends?
The Junior Friends of the Southbury Library are a volunteer group of youngsters from the 4th to 12th grade. They meet on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00pm.
At every other meeting the Junior Friends volunteer in the Children's and Young Adult Departments doing any work that is required. It is often book shelving, card stamping, holiday decorating and assistance with craft activities.
On alternate months, the Junior Friends have a social activity, for example movie night, holiday celebrations or game night. The Junior Friends also provide service to the community through bake sales, read-a-thons, and book sales and have contributed to the American Red Cross, Women's Shelters, the Southbury Fuel Bank, the Southbury Food Bank and the Ronald McDonald House.
The Heads of the Children's Department and the Young Adult Department supervise the Junior Friends.
