Sherman Library Art Exhibits
Each month the Sherman Library, as part of our effort to promote cultural enrichment, features the works of a selected local artist. Over the course of a year, many different types of art can be seen such as traditional, abstract, watercolors, oils, pastels, as well as photography. Not only is the artwork enjoyed by library visitors…it’s for sale. In fact, a percentage of any sale is donated by the artist to the Sherman Library.
If you are interested in showing your art at the Sherman Library please contact us.

“A SENSE of PEACE”
Oil Paintings by Barbara A. Comer
Barbara Comer, a resident of Sherman, is a self taught artist who has developed a style of painting that reflects the harmony and peace of our natural surroundings. Without venturing far from her own backyard, Barbara delights the viewer with a sense of feeling for the environment few artists can.
In discussing her work, Barbara offers the following insight into her vision as an artist. “Whether it is decorative painting on furniture, fashion, room décor, or gardening, I enjoy the creative process of order and design. When painting on canvas, I am inspired by the light and shadows of the landscape. And how the colors and shapes of nature come into harmony offering the viewer a meditative sense of peace.”
