Founded and endowed by local textile manufacturer George Maxwell in 1893, the Rockville Public Library is a privately endowed facility serving the entire town of Vernon.

RPL mourns the passing of JOHN H. PETERS III, who served on our board of trustees for 31 years., as well as of his wife, Laurel, who died shortly after he did.  Mr. Peters' support of the library continued even after he left the board.  Several years ago, for example, he donated one of his famous hand-crafted rocking horses for the library to auction off as a fund-raiser.

Of Books and Cooks,  Rockville Public Library's cookbook commemorating Vernon's bicentennial, continues to be available for sale at the adult circulation desk.  The cost is $20 for the first copy and $15 for each additional copy.  For further information, please call (860) 875-5892, x 23 or 24.

Help ensure the future of quality library service in Vernon by contributing to our Annual Appeal!  Packets for the Appeal are mailed each year in October.  If you did not receive a packet in the mail, please pick one up at the library, or call us at (860) 875-5892, x 25, to request that we send you one.

Driving Directions to Rockville Public Library

From I-84 East: Take exit 67. Turn left at end of exit ramp onto Route 31. Travel through intersection of Routes 30 & 31. Follow Route 31 (now Grove Street) to intersection of Route 74. Turn left at light onto Route 74 (East Main Street and then Union Street) and proceed down hill into center of Rockville. After second light, Rockville Public Library is in next block, across from Rockville General Hospital emergency room. Turn right at Library logo sign. Parking lot is behind library.

From I-84 West: Take Exit 67. Turn right at end of exit ramp onto Route 31 and continue with directions as above.
