The Rockville Public Library
The Friends of
Rockville Public Library

The purpose of the Friends, a voluntary non-profit organization, is to support the library in a variety of ways including:
  • Encouraging use of resources and services
  • Receiving and encouraging gifts and bequests to the library
  • Supporting and cooperating in developing library services and facilities for the community

Projects in which the Friends take part include
  • Delivering books to the homebound
  • Assisting in the preparation of the library's Annual Appeal mailing
  • Running the ongoing sale of paperbacks
  • Supporting children's and adult programming
  • Hosting a reception for the annual school art exhibit held at the library
  • Providing refreshments for events such as book discussions
New members are welcome at any time. Dues are flexible and begin as low as $2. If you are interested in joining, please pick up an application at the library or call (860) 875-5892, x 21, and request that an application be mailed to you.

You may also "sample" a Friends meeting and see if you would like to join. Brown bag luncheon meetings take place the first Thursday of most months from September through June at 12 noon in the Peck Room on the lower level of the library. Beverages and dessert are provided, and each session includes an entertaining and informative program.  Fliers on upcoming meetings with their speakers and topics are available on the Book Nook shelves near the side entrance to the library.

The next meeting will take place in September.  Details will be provided closer to that time.
