Passes are available at the Children's Services Desk.  All passes may be borrowed for three days.  You may reserve passes by calling the Library at 438-2282 x 2002.

FREE ADMISSION

Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art (Ridgefield, CT) (2 passes)-- Free general admission for passholder and accompanying family members during regular hours. (Children under 12 free at all times.)  Changing exhibits of contemporary art with emphasis on emerging trends and artists early in their careers.  Hours:  Tues.-Sun. Noon-5. Beardsley Zoo (Bridgeport, CT) -- Free family admission (two adults and up to four children). Connecticut's only zoo with over 300 animals representing 125 species.  Hours: Daily 9-4.    This pass is sponsored by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

 
Discovery Museum and Planetarium
(Bridgeport, CT) -- Free admission for one family and 10% discount in the Museum Store.  "Connecticut's adventure in art and science," featuring planetarium, Challenger Learning Center and loads of hands-on exhibits.  Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-5; Sun. Noon-5.  (203) 374-1929.  This pass is sponsored by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

Institute for American Indian Studies (Washington, CT) -- Free admission for one family. Archeological excavation, demonstrations and an authentically constructed Algonkian Village are highlights of the educational facility focused on Native American history and culture.   (860) 868-0518.  This pass is sponsored by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

Mattatuck Museum (Waterbury, CT) -- Free admission for two adults (children under 16 free).  Exhibits, collections and programs dedicated to the art and artists of Connecticut.  Available at the Information Services Desk.  This pass is sponsored by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

  
No Child Left Inside (State wide)  Through a partnership between the Connecticut Library Consortium and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, public libraries across the state have a Connecticut State Park & Forest day pass available for patrons. Library patrons may borrow the pass and use it for free parking at the major state parks where parking fees are charged. The pass is also good for admission to any museum located at a state park.  Those planning to visit a state park or forest will also be able to borrow a copy of the book, The Shared Landscape: A Guide & History of Connecticut’s State Parks and Forests. DEP is purchasing a copy of the book for every library.

 
Peabody Museum of Natural History
(New Haven, CT) -- Free admission for any four people (one adult must accompany children under 16).  Dinosaurs, dioramas and exhibits relating to anthropology, geology and other natural sciences.  Hours:  Mon.-Sat. 10-5; Sun. Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art (Hartford, CT) -- Free general admission for two adults and two children (ages 6-17).  American's oldest continuously operating art museum, with nearly 50,000 works of fine and decorative art spanning 5,000 years.  Hours:  Tues.-Fri. 11-5; Sat. & Sun. 2-5; first Thurs. of most months open until 8.  Courtesy of the Wadsworth Atheneum.

Maritime Aquarium
(Norwalk, CT) -- $2.00 discount off each combination ticket to the Aquarium and IMAX Theater, for up to six people.  An interactive introduction to the splendors of Long Island Sound plus exciting IMAX Theater presentations.  Hours:  Daily 10-5 (6 in the summer). (203) 852-0700. 

  
Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration

The Children's Museum
(West Hartford, CT) -- One free child with every paid adult (extra fee applies for planetarium/laser shows).  Explore science, nature and technology with planetarium shows, hands-on exhibits and live animals.  Hours:  Tues.-Sat. 10-5; Sun. Stepping Stones Museum for Children (Norwalk, CT) -- Buy one admission, get one free with up to three free admissions.  Interactive exhibits designed to encourage hands-on exploration of science, the arts and culture.  This pass is sponsored by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.
