Titles include not only fiction and nonfiction books, but also Pimsleur Method language learning materials. To see a list of the languages in this series, click here. IMPORTANT NOTE: This service is NOT compatible with the MacIntosh platform or iPods at this time. The vendor is researching options for compatibility. Before You Start To listen to and/or transfer downloadable audiobooks to your portable device, you need to have Microsoft Windows Media Player, version 9.0 or 10 installed on your computer. Creating an Account In order to download and listen to audiobooks, you must first create a free NetLibrary account. A valid Ridgefield Library card is required to do so. We would be happy to help you set up an account (this can be done in the Fiction Room on the second floor of the Library) or you can do so from the NetLibrary link above or below. 1. Enter your library card number (no spaces) for patron authentication. 2. Click on the Create a Free Account link. 3. Set up your identifying information (user name, password, email address). 4. Click the submit button.
Logging in 1. Enter search term in the Basic Search field. 2. Select keyword, title, author, or narrator. 3. Click search. Advanced Search lets you construct more complicated searches using multiple search criteria.
Checking Out an Audiobook recommended you save the audiobook file to a directory of your choosing on your computer. 2. Select a download option: CD quality or radio quality. CD quality offers high-fidelity playback and should be chosen if you have high speed internet access. 3. Radio quality provides faster download speed for those with dial-up connections. 4. Once the download is complete, you can open the audiobook directly from Windows Media Player. Transferring an Audiobook to a Portable Device You can use the media player to transfer a downloaded audiobook to portable devices supporting secure WMA format. NetLibrary automatically transfers a license to your portable device that will allow you to access the audiobook for 21 days from the date of original checkout. For a list of supported portable devices see the Hardware and Software Tips in the NetLibrary Help section.
