Book Sales

May 16-19 -- Friends Annual Spring Sale - Last day to bring book donations - May 9.  Book collection will resume on May 23.
May 16 - 9 AM to 5 PM Early bird entry fee of $10 from 9 until noon.  Free entry after noon.
May 17 - 9 AM to 5 PM
May 18 - 1 to 5 PM  All books 1/2 price.
May 19 - 10 AM to 5 PM  Bag o' books $5.00

October 17-20 -- Friends Annual Fall Sale - Last day to bring book donations - October 10.  Book collection will resume on October 24.

Lectures

May 31 -- Lecture 1 PM
Panel Discussion: Alternative Approaches to Treating Chronic Illness, Stress or Pain.  A panel discussion will be moderated by Mitchell Prywes, M.D., Integrative Medicine physician, Board certified in Physical Medicine and Medical Acupuncture. Joining Dr. Prywes will be Linda Lubin, M.A., Integrative Health & Wellness Counselor & Educator, David Johnston, D.O., Osteopathic Medicine Physician, Deana LoGiudice, L.M.T., M.A., Massage Therapist and Energy Healer, and JoAnn Duncan, M.S., R.M.T., Master Reiki Practitioner and Teacher. 

The multilayered effects of chronic illness, pain, and stress are often challenging to treat, and can be frustratingly difficult to cope with. Learn about approaches to healing which may be of value to you or a loved one. Dr. Prywes will present an overview of alternative, integrative, holistic approaches to treatment, with brief presentations by each of the panelists. A Q. & A. will follow.

Memoir Writers 10 AM

The Memoir Writing Group meets on the first Saturday of every month in the History Room. The sessions will include advice from other writers, a prompt with writing time, critique and sharing. Date:  June 7.

Performances

October 3 -- Theater of the 30's, 40's and 50's 7 PM
Actor Stephen Collins will return to the Library with his new one-man performance featuring monologues and songs from the theater of the 30's, 40's and 50's. Collins will perform excerpts of plays by Eugene O'Neil, Thornton Wilder, Arthur Miller and more.

Ridgefield Folk

June 8 -- Meg Hutchinson 2 PM

Although only 29, Meg Hutchinson has already won numerous songwriting awards in the United States, Ireland and the UK, including renowned competitions at Merlefest, Mountain Stage NewSong Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival and Rocky Mountain Folks Fest. Hutchinson's new CD Come Up Full, the Red House Records label debut of this Boston-based songwriter, confirms that she is one of the great voices of the next generation of acoustic musicians. 
Tickets will be given out on the day of the concert starting at 1 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 and the concert starts at 2 p.m.  Thanks to the Friends of the Library, this is a free concert. Meg's web site

September 21 -- Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies 2 PM
 Tickets will be given out on the day of the concert starting at 1 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 and the concert starts at 2 p.m.  Thanks to the Friends of the Library, this is a free concert. Their web site.

Shutterbugs 9:30 AM

The Ridgefield Library's photography group the Shutterbugs meets on the second Saturday of the month to discuss their craft and/or head out on their many field trips.  New members are always welcome. As the group sometimes goes straight out to take photographs contact Mary Harold at 438-7350 or e-mail if you are interested in joining the group. 
Dates for meetings:    June 14, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13.

Writers Group 7 PM

The Ridgefield Writer's Guild - A Networking Group for Writers will meet once a month in the History Room. Writers get together to network and talk about their craft. Call Eileen Hackett at 203-438-1432 for more information.  Dates for meetings:   May 27 and June 17.
