New and Notable - Books & Breakfast Debuts February 25th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
coffee cupWant to hear the buzz about new and upcoming fiction or find out what everyone else is currently reading? Join us on Monday, February 25th from 10:30 to 11:30 AM for the first of our informal Books & Breakfast chats. We'll take over the Library's beautiful Quiet Study Room to make noise about our favorite books. Members of our staff will share some of their favorite recent fiction titles and let you know about all of our readers advisory services. We'll also do a demonstration of how to use NoveList, an online readers advisory tool that you can access from home or in the library. Then we hope you'll share your memorable reads.
Beverages and snacks will be provided. We hope to see you there. Please sign up at the Circulation Desk to let us know that you are coming, or email Adult Services Librarian Dorothy Pawlowski
Have you checked our other reading resources?
Stack of booksCritics's Circle Tuesday 2/19, 7 PM. Intuition by Allegra Goodman (2006; 352 pages). Through the use of multiple perspectives, the author provides a glimpse into the intimate life in a research lab where the discovery of a virus that fights cancer seems too good to be true. Did You Know...?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Library Logo with addressIn honor of the town's 300th celebration, we will be featuring each week a tidbit of information about the past, present and future of the Library.

The life-sized bronze sculpture of a woman reading to a child located in the small "sunroom" near the main entrance is by world-renowned artist Glenna Goodacre. Titled "Storytime," the work was given to the Library by an anonymous donor in recognition of the retirement of Anita Daubenspeck. Before her 25 year tenure as Director of the Ridgefield Library, Anita was a children's librarian, making this an especially fitting tribute, as well as a charming addition to the Library's decor.

Be a Power User

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a subscriber to this e-newsletter, you are already a "power user" of the Ridgefield Library. Look for weekly tips to make you even more powerful!
THIS WEEK'S TIP: You may now return all materials in the outside book drop, including tapes, CDs and DVDs - no more extra trips or late fees because of book drop restrictions! If possible, secure media packages with a rubber band or place in a grocery store plastic bag to keep all the pieces together. Here's another little known fact that will save you time and money: items put in the book drop after closing are still considered returned on that date, right up until opening the next day.
