New Exhibit by Diana Oliveira Opens December 5th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Place of Happy Population - Paintings by Diana Oliveira
Diana Oliveira was born in Ceara, Brazil and comes from a
long line of artists. She paints vivid landscapes and still
lifes using nature's colors as her inspiration. She has studied
art in Brazil and at Western Connecticut State University and
has exhibited her work in Brazil, New York and Connecticut. She
says of her work, "I show the peasant life in a new and happy
way. I use the ever present blue sky and sunshine of my native
land as inspiration. I feel most at home among the jars of paint
and brushes in my studio."
Exhibit is available for viewing through December 30 in the
Dayton Program Room during Library open hours, whenever the room
is not in use for another program. An opening reception
will take place on Sunday, December 7 from 2:00 - 4:00
PM.
To be published in today's competitive market, your writing must
be at its best. "The Art of Editing in Writing" workshop, with
editor and writer Adele M. Annesi, uses the six "Rs" of editing
- reading, revising, rewriting, reconstructing, research and
rereading to make your writing its creative best. We'll look at
what to change, how to change it and how to know when you've
reached your goal. The workshop will include a critique session.
Registration is not required. This program is free thanks to
the Friends of the Library and the Wadsworth Russell
Lewis Fund.
Online Giving Now Part of Annual Appeal
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did you know that many of these events and services are
possible only with your financial support? The Library receives
only a portion of its annual operating budget from the town and
must raise the rest through fines, fees and, most of all,
private donations. In these uncertain economic times, the public
library becomes an even more valuable community asset, and we
need your help to keep up with increased use and demand for
services.
You can support this effort by making a contribution to the
2008-2009 Annual Appeal. You may pick up a donation
envelope at the Library, print out a form from our webpage or
use our
new secure online donation option. The Ridgefield
Library is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, and donations
are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
Thank you for your support! |
