The meeting was called to
order 7:00 PM
MINUTES: Minutes of the Jan
25, 2007 meeting were accepted pending addition of the membership at
that meeting.
COMMUNICATIONS: None.
LIBRARIAN REPORT:
A. Regarding the Budget Proposal
for FY 2008
1. Despite the documented increase in patron usage, the additional position
was not approved.
2. It is hoped a substitute position will temporarily help cover absences
due to sickness or vacations.
B. Other News
1. The vacant position on the Library Advisory Board has been offered
to Heidi Hand and is pending approval by the Town Council.
2. A Patron wrote to say she has some books that she wants to donate
to the collection. The Board demurred to L. Bailey and her Staff in
making those decisions and will support whatever they decide.

Next meeting is planned for late January 2008 at 7 PM.

Informational Meeting
January 25, 2007 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to
order 7:25 P.M.
MINUTES:
The members present found no need for corrections or additions to the
September 28, 2006 meeting minutes.
COMMUNICATIONS:
None.
LIBRARIAN REPORT:
A. 2008 Budget Proposal
L. Bailey reported that she is requesting a new position for a part-time
librarian to begin the accomplishment of new objectives and activities
in the Long Range Plan. An increase of 11% for Teen books was also requested
to support the increased circulation in that area. Copies of the narrative
portion of the budget and the detailed line item budget were distributed.
Although staffing levels have not changed, usage measurements have increased.
B. Long Range Plan
Chris Bradley from the Connecticut Library Consortium and Louise Bailey
researched and analyzed statistics, work measurements and library activities
and found that Library staff are “at capacity” with current
staffing. To implement new programs and activities suggested in the
Long Range Plan, the library either needs to cut some programs and activities
or hire additional staff.
