If you’ve been offline and you’re ready to upload transactions, follow these steps:

1) Log into the staff client as you normally do each morning

2) Click the Admin menu located in the far upper right hand corner and select “Offline Transaction Management”

3) Click the “Create” button and give the session a name (we suggestion using the date)

4) Highlight the session name and click the “Upload” button. An “Uploaded Transactions” section will appear in the lower portion of the screen.

The Upload Count should increase by 1

5) Repeat step 4 on each additional workstation that was used while your location was offline.

6) When all workstations’ transactions have been uploaded, contact the Bibliomation Helpdesk to process the transactions. If there were any exceptions (mis-scanned patron barcode for example) you can view them in the lower portion of the offline transaction screen after hitting the refresh button.

By default patron passwords are the last four digits of the daytime phone number on the record. If the patron migrated over from Horizon, the phone number in the daytime phone number was the first number in Horizon. If they didn’t have a phone number on their account, the password was the last four digits of their barcode.

Patrons will be prompted to change their password the first time they log in.

The password field will appear blank in the patron record – staff can’t see patron passwords.

You can use Test Password (under the “Other” menu in the patron record) or Verify Credentials (in the Circulation Menu) to allow a patron to test their password.

You can reset a patron password in one of two ways.

Method One
Type something new into the Password field. Type it again into the Verify Password field. Click “Save.” The patron will be prompted to change their password the first time they log in.

Method Two
Click the “Reset Password” button. The password will reset to a random four-digit string. Click “Save.” (don’t forget to write down the four digits!)

This is the most common kind of hold you’ll place. It’s a hold on any available copy of that title. In the catalog, title level holds will be placed either on the Search Results screen or with the topmost “Request Item” link in the item screen (upper right side of the item record).

Volume-level holds

A volume-level holds places a hold on any item attached to that volume. If you have three copies of The Hunger Games under YA Col and three under Fic Coll, a volume level hold is for any one of the three copies in YA Col. Volume-level holds are placed using the “Request Item” link in copy information area of the record, to the right of the call number and copy location.

Item-level holds

Item level holds are for the specific item or barcode. If you have three copies of The Hunger Games, it is a hold placed on copy number 3. They are placed using the “Request Item” link that’s the hardest to find – in the copy details area, just above the link for the volume level hold, there’s a link for “copy details”. Click on that, and all the barcodes will appear below. The “Request Item” link next to the barcode is for an item-level hold.

Staff may place any kind of hold, patrons may only place title-level holds.

Holds can be suspended by staff or patrons. A suspended hold hovers in its place in line until it is activated again. This is most useful for patrons who are going to be out of town when their hold is likely to be available or for patrons who want to manage their holds queue-style.

For patrons, holds can be suspended by going into the My Account section of the OPAC, choosing “Items on Hold” and then selecting the holds they want to suspend or activate. Under the “Actions for Selected Holds” drop down menu, they can suspend, activate, or set an activation date for their holds.

For staff, once you have the patron record up, choose the holds button and select the holds you want to suspend or activate. Under the “Actions for Selected Holds” you can suspend or activate the holds.

If family members are already registered and want to add another family member, grouping can be done by opening the existing patron’s account, choosing “Group Member Details” from the “Other” menu, and under “Choose an Action” selecting “Register a new group member by cloning selected patrons” (this works best if two of the family members are already grouped).

If all family members are registered and you simply wish to group them, choose one to be the lead and under the “Other” menu, choose “Group Member Details”. From the “Choose an Action” menu, select “Move another patron to this group” and scan or type in the barcode of the other family member.
Grouping patrons is a way to connect family members in Evergreen.
