Carl DeMilia is a Connecticut native having been born and raised in Groton. Carl earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography at the University of Connecticut. While pursuing his MLS at Southern CT State University he worked as a part-time reference assistant at the Public Library of New London. After completing his MLS in 1988 he was hired as the Head of Reference at the New Milford (CT) Public Library. Over the years, Carl has been very active in the CT library community, most recently serving as President of the CT Library Association in 2012-13.
Amy Terlaga is Bibliomation’s Assistant Director of User Services, overseeing the “soft side” of Bibliomation: the various software services and support for member libraries. She earned her B.A. from the College of William & Mary and her MLS from Southern CT State University. She joined Bibliomation a year after she finished her MLS and has worked in various roles in the organization, including managing the migration to Horizon in 2004. She is an active member of the Evergreen community, representing Biblio-mation on an IMLS grant managed by the King County Library System and serving on the Evergreen Oversight Board. In 2012, she enjoyed working with our libraries to determine which Evergreen enhancements we would develop for Bibliomation and the Ever-green community, as well as working with developers to bring those enhancements to fruition. She is Bibliomation’s resident film buff, and can always be counted on for an excellent movie recommendation.
Evergreen / Open Source Team
Jessica Woolford joined Bibliomation in January of 2010 after working as a library assistant at the Wolcott Public Library. She has quickly become an Evergreen reports expert, taking the helm of the Evergreen Reports Interest Group in the fall of 2012. While completing her MLS, she developed an interest in digital libraries and in 2012 began exploring possible solutions for digital con-tent for Bibliomation libraries. She enjoyed installing Islandora on a virtual machine and learning about Ubuntu and Drupal in the process. Jessica is also Bibliomation’s OverDrive trainer and she offers popular OverDrive workshops for library staff and patrons throughout the year. Prior to receiving her 2011 MLS from Southern Connecticut State University, Jessica earned her MA in Teaching from Cornell and her Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Business from SUNY Cobleskill. She is the proud owner of Bibliomation’s unofficial mascot, Bradley the beagle, who recently became a certified therapy dog.
Mary Llewellyn earned her MLS from the University of Pittsburgh in 1982. She worked as a cataloger at Ansonia Library and then an Adult Services Librarian at Watertown Library Association before joining Bibliomation as a cataloger in 1989. In 1994, just after our migration from GEAC to CARL, she became the Database Services Manager. At work, Mary has enjoyed crafting useful SQL queries this year and she has been extremely pleased with Bibliomation’s foray into webinars, offering Biblio’s first online workshop. After work, she crafts lovely jewelry, selling it online and at craft fairs.
Steven Pisani joined Bibliomation as a cataloger in 2011, after thirty-two years at Westchester Library System, where he was most recently the head of Cataloging and Interlibrary Loan Services. Libraries are lucky to have him— as an undergraduate at Fashion Institute of Technology, his designs were selected by a panel of judges including Calvin Klein and Oscar De La Renta. He is delight-ed to be part of an Open Source project after years of struggling with ILS vendors.
Robin Fitch joined Bibliomation in 1991 as a temporary data conversion worker, staying on as a part-time database assistant through her college career. After she graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BA in English, she joined Biblio fulltime, and was promoted to cataloger in 2002. In 2011, she went back to part time work, in order to pursue her passion for writing. She has had a short story included in a “Best Of” anthology from a magazine of vampire literature and despite years as a cataloger, consistently mistypes “fiction” as “ficiton”. Her favorite project from 2012 was entering all the awards data for the OPAC and especially the Kids’ Catalog. It was a lot of work, but it’s something our libraries are always glad to have available.
As a high school student, Carol Yarrison did not expect her after-school job at the Plymouth Library Association would lead her to her current position as the Help Desk Coordinator of Bibliomation. She earned her LTA degree from Norwalk Community College in 1996, serving as the Assistant Director and later Director in Plymouth before working at Woodbury Public Library in technical services and children’s programming. For more than ten years prior to joining Biblio, she worked at Monroe Public Library (now Edith Wheeler Memorial Library) in technical services. Bibliomation was lucky to snap her up in 2001 as an Application Support Specialist and Trainer. In her first job at Plymouth, the library director was the mother of noted children’s author Ronald Rood, preparing her for a later brush with fame when she served coffee to Paul Newman at the diner she and her husband owned.
End-of-the-week callers to the help desk know Jennifer Doyon, who has worked at Bibliomation since 2009. When not working full time as the Information Technology/Teen Librarian at The Brookfield Library, you can find her listening to music, taking in a movie, visiting friends and family, or designing a website.
Bibliomation is fortunate to have Debbie Daiss on board as our Business Manager/CFO. Debbie holds a degree in Accounting and Marketing from Georgia Southern University and has worked in finance at both businesses and nonprofits.
