Homebound Delivery Service

Experience the Thomaston Public Library from the comfort of your home. Books, magazines, videos and books-on-tape can be delivered free through the Homebound Delivery Service.

To use the Thomaston Public Library's Homebound Service, you must be a Thomaston resident 60 years of age or older, and be unable to physically come to the library on your own due to mobility or vision impairment, or temporary confinement because of illness.

The materials you enjoy are just a phone call away. Library staff members will select them, have them delivered to you, and return them to the library.

How the Service Works

You may call the library on Tuesdays between 10:00am and 1:00pm at 860-283-4339 to request materials. Just call and explain to the library staff member that you are a participating resident in the Home Delivery Service. The staff member who answers the telephone will take your requests and arrange for the loan of your materials. Every Tuesday thereafter, between 10:00am and 1:00pm, the participating resident may call the library to request materials.

What Can Be Borrowed

The Library's extensive collection includes the classics, current novels, mysteries, westerns, romance, biographies, books on current events, health issues, cooking, religion and travel. The library also has popular movies, as well as videos on travel, history, biography and science. Books-on-tape are also available. Many of our books are available in large print or paperback.

We have a generous magazine collection that ranges from popular titles to special interest magazines.

Homebound Delivery Service Borrowing Policy

All of the items you borrow will be due back on your next scheduled delivery date.

Library volunteers will deliver and pick up your materials every othe Thursday between 11:00am and 2:00pm. If you will not be available at the scheduled time, please call the library.
