The Connecticut State Library has received a Staying Connected Grant of $163,680 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to help public libraries in rural or less wealthy communities sustain their public access computing capability. Research by the Gates Foundation and the State Library has shown that the need for staff with technical expertise and the availability of quality and affordable technical support are two of the most important barriers libraries face to Staying Connected.

The Staying Connected grant will allow the State Library, through Bibliomation's Library Liaison Certification Workshop and it's BiblioTech service, to provide free public access computer technical training and subsidies for technical support contracts.
